Jakovljevic - April 27, 2004 Premise It might be interesting to dissect the differences between the merger and acquisitions phenomena within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply chain execution (SCE) markets. One possible similarity might be in the economic environment, though. Namely, even if the global economy bounces back with a vengeance, there will still likely be more solution providers than a real abundance of sales opportunities. Consequently, larger predators are going to use their huge resources such as market capitalization, credit lines, and cash to buy the smaller competitors' install base, intellectual property, sales channels, and so on, right?
